Friday Favorites May 31

Happy Friday friends! Here we are on the last day of May! We are heading into my 3 favorite months of the year and kicking it off with a little weekend getaway.  I am so excited for a few days away. But before I hit the road, I am linking up with Andrea & Erika for a little Friday Favorites. A peek into a few of my favorite things from the week.

one
This here could be my one and only favorite from the week. Ella went to her boyfriend's prom last weekend any my gosh she just looked perfect! Her dress was perfect for her, from the color, to the fit and the style.  She was loving the pics with these flowers as a backdrop. they matched her dress perfectly!

Well somehow our little girl is off to her second prom and will be a Senior in high school next year.

I mean, could they be any cuter?? They had so much fun!

I have to say I am pretty proud of myself....I did her hair for the prom and I think it turned out pretty great!!

two
The boat is in the water and Paul and I got out for a few hours last weekend. I packed my sunscreen, new book and my favorite snack.

There is just something so calming about being out on the water. I just love it!

The best boat snack. If you like pickles, you have to try this "Pickle de Gallo". I get the hot one and it's not very hot. It is so, so good!!!

three
Three of my most recent purchases here are also some of my favorites. I have had Abby Jiminez books on my TBR list for a while and finally started this one. I will have this wrapped up by tomorrow. So far, so so good!!!

Next up is two favorites, I guess. One, I slept until 8am last Sunday. That is a rare thing for me and if felt glorious!!! And second, these new Target Pjs are adorable! Comfy, not too hot to sleep in and I am in love with the pattern.

I got another bottle of my favorite self tanner. This one never lets  me down! I used it on Ella the night before prom and she had the most beautiful glow.

I got this clutch last week and it is so cute for Summer. The pattern is fun, but simple enough to be worn with so many different things. It has a gold chain, so you can wear it cross body or tuck the chain in and use as a clutch. I liked the neutral colors, but it also comes in a fun black and white stripe option!

Luke had the opportunity to play Unified Basketball at school this Spring. What an amazing program, that blends kids with varying abilities with some school athletes to give everyone the opportunity to play! We watched their playoff game this week and it was so fun to see the pure joy from everyone playing!

five
These pictures from the week just made me feel like Summer. Fresh tomatoes and basil just go with everything in the Summer!

We had Grilled Chicken Caprese Salads this week. We ate them out on the patio and that just makes me happy!

And Monday I went to the garden center to pick some flowers for our pots. I love wandering the garden center, but have to admit I have no idea what to look for or really what I am doing. My mom has the most beautiful gardens, but sadly I did not inherit her green thumb! I look for pretty colors and flowers that can stand the sun and need little maintenance!

I still can't believe May is over! I shared a fun recap of what were up to this month on Wednesday. You can check it out here

Ok, Paul and I are off for a fun weekend. I hope you all have a great weekend too!

See you on Monday, there is always room for one more at our family table.

What's Up Wednesday May 2024

Hi friends! How is it already the last few days of May? Gosh I feel like this month flew by! We are heading into my favorite 3 months of the year, so I hope time slows down a bit. As per usual, on the last Wednesday of the month I am linking up with Shay and Sheaffer for a little What's Up Wednesday. A fun post sharing a little food, a little what we're wearing, a little what we're doing, a little what we're watching and a little bit of everything all in one post!

What We're Eating This Week

So I have tried some great new recipes lately and shared a few here on the blog. This Honey Buffalo Chicken was a winner! One pan and full of flavor, you can't go wrong. You can grab the recipe here.

These Teriyaki Shrimp Bowls had all the flavors of Summer. The recipe for this meal is here.

And this Primavera Risotto is a little bit of a labor of love, but so worth it!

I have been prioritizing protein at every meal and this is one of my favorites for breakfast and lunch. I take a cup of plain Greek yogurt and mix with vanilla protein powder, cinnamon, powdered peanut butter and top with some berries and granola. So good and over 40 grams of protein! This is my most favorite protein- it has pretty clean ingredients.

What I'm Reminiscing About

9 years ago this month we brought home our Maddie. It is so hard to believe how little she was!

She has slowed down this last year and is starting to grey around her face, but still the sweetest girl.

What I'm Loving

So I have shared both of these before, but I love them and use both all the time.

These electrolytes are a game changer. I drink one every day and feel so good all day long. When I first started drinking them I found it be a little too salty, so I would start with half a packet. Now I have found my sweet spot with one packet  mixed with 30oz of water. Every morning. You can grab this sampler pack here.

This is my holy grail of self tanners. I have tried them all and this is it! I apply at night and wash off in the morning for the best Summer glow.

What We've Been Up To

Lots of end of school year activities! We had both sets of grandparents to watch Ella race.

We celebrated Ella getting into the National Honor Society.

And both kids were recognized with some school academic awards. I got a rare selfie with my boy on our way to the ceremony.

We celebrated Paul's birthday with 2 of his favorite things. Chocolate and Pie.

What I'm Dreading

Nothing on my dread list. Ready for warmer weather, long Summer nights and a break from the school and activities schedule.

What I'm Excited About

We have a fun trip coming up at the end of next month. We are heading to Charleston, SC. I have always wanted to visit there and have heard so many amazing things. Ella has a few southern colleges on her list, so it's part college tour and part vacation.

What I'm Watching/Reading

I have been watching a lot of track in the rain. We have had the rainiest Spring and spent a lot of time under this umbrella!

I have heard from several friends that I need to read a book by Abby Jiminez and started this one yesterday. I am loving it so far and will be picking up another one from her before the weekend!

What I'm Listening To

We are heading to see Kenny Chesney along with Zac Brown Band in concert this weekend, so those have been on repeat!

What I'm Wearing

The weather has been beautiful this week. I have been loving the weather and easy Summer dresses for work. This striped one is so cute and comfortable. It's great alone or you can pair it with a denim jacket. I have the khaki and white stripe, but it comes in like 8 colors!

This dress is old, but the belt is a favorite. This 4 packs of belts is perfect for Summer. You can pair them with so many things. I love adding them to a dress to easily elevate the look.

These have quickly become my favorite sunglasses.  They came in a two pack with one black pair and one brown. I was worried they were a bit too big, but I love them!

I started wearing satin pjs about 2 years ago and I won't go back to anything else. I was a really low key sleepwear gal, like an old tank with paint on it and oversized pj pants. Then one day I grabbed a pair of satin pjs on a whim and I was hooked. They are so comfy, keep me cool at night in the Summer and I look so darn put together without even trying.
I highly recommend upping your PJ game if you haven't yet. This pair comes in like 20 colors. I always find myself going up one size, because I don't want anything feeling tight when I'm trying to be comfy and sleep!

This is one of my favorite nail colors for Spring and Summer. It goes with so many things that it feels like it's a neutral color. I love it on my fingers and toes.

Love a good kimono in the Summer. Love it even more when it has a dual use! I wore this one for work last week with a black tank & jeans. It also is perfect as intended with a black swimsuit. Want to dress up a pair of white shorts? Add a kimono. This black and white one is really versatile, but it comes in several other color options.

white blazer is another Summer staple for me. You can wear it casual with jeans, dress it up for work, or wear with a dress to step up your look. I am taking it with me this weekend to wear with black leather shorts for a fun night out look.

My denim jacket has been my go to lately.  I have a light wash, dark wash, black and white. Bonus- if you have a teenage daughter, she will be happy to borrow yours :)
This one is really old, but linking a similar one here. You can grab my dress here.

What I'm Doing this Weekend

Paul and I are off to Pittsburgh for the weekend. Looking forward to a fun night out on Friday and the concert on Saturday. We saw Kenny there 2 years ago and he was so good! The weather is looking perfect for it, so I am extra excited! These are some pics from that show- so fun!

What I'm Looking forward to Next Month

Well we made a big purchase yesterday and got a car for Ella. Life is going to be so different this next month as she gets her driver's license (fingers crossed) and can get herself around town! I am so excited for her and this new chapter. She also starts her first job next month! I am so looking forward to seeing her continue to thrive this year!

Wishing you the best day!

See you back here for Friday Favorites. There is always room for one more at our family table.

Something New for Your Family Table Sheet Pan Honey Buffalo Chicken & Broccoli

Hey friends! Hope you had a great weekend! We had a beautiful weekend with the prom, nice weather, some boating and some much needed down time!

Last week I made this sheet pan dinner and it was a hit! I mean a pan meal that just pops into the oven is always a winner in my book. And we assembled them in a bowl, and you know I love a good dinner in a bowl!

I found this recipe for Sheet Pan Honey Buffalo Chicken Sheet Pan Honey Buffalo Chicken on the SkinnyTaste site. That is one of my favorite places to scroll through when I am looking for dinner inspo.

If you have your chicken and broccoli chopped and ready to go, this dinner can be on the table in less than 30 minutes! And don't let the Buffalo part scare you. My kids are not big on "spicy" and this was a winner for them.

The chicken and broccoli gets a quick hit of seasoning and onto the pan and into the oven in goes!

After about 20 minutes, you can pull off the broccoli. I kept it warm covered in foil. Then add the sauce to the chicken and back in the oven for a few more minutes. I use the Primal Kitchen Buffalo sauce. It has some of the cleanest ingredients and tastes great!

Then you just assemble your bowls. We did ours on a bed of brown rice for kids and I put mine over cauliflower rice. I added some sliced scallions and chopped celery for a little crunch.

I added a drizzle of blue cheese dressing, but I wish I had some blue cheese crumbles. I will definitely add that next time. I also added a little Mike's Hot Honey to the top of mine too!  Luke went with a ranch drizzle.

I sure hope you try this one. I mean one pan, comes together quickly and full of flavor! You can't go wrong!

Have a great Tuesday. See you back here tomorrow for What's up Wednesday!

There is always room for one more at our family table.
