Anniversary Trip to Niagara on the Lake

Hey friends! Last weekend, Paul and I took a quick 24 hour trip to celebrate our 24 year anniversary! We grabbed our passports, and off we went. Grabbed our passports-sounds like we went on some luxurious tropical vacation. But we just hopped over the border into Canada to visit Niagara on the Lake.

We traveled ready to go to lunch at one of our favorite wineries. I was carrying my new bag from target and this cute dress.

We took the scenic route, along the Niagara River, passing Niagara Falls, while cruising in the convertible. It was a beautiful day for this drive.

We had reservations for lunch at Peller Estates Winery. This is one of our favorite wineries there. If you have not been, Niagara on the Lake is a super quaint town. It feels like you’re somewhere in the French countryside.

There are many, many wineries to explore. We love this winery for two reasons. One, we have always found a wine that we enjoy and secondly, their food is really good.

We started out lunch with a sparkling rosé and a beautiful view of the vineyards.

This place sure knows how to do a charcuterie board!

I had the lobster Caesar salad. The lobster was poached in an ice wine from the region and it was delicious. Paul had a lobster truffle pasta dish. And we enjoyed a bottle of their Chardonnay.

Cheers chapter 24 in this little love story!

After lunch, we checked into our hotel, and changed into some more comfortable shoes to walk in the town. The landscape and flowers in the town are absolutely beautiful.

One of my favorite little treats here is at the Budapest Bakeshop. They make these little cylindrical dough treats. They call them a chimney stack and they have both sweet and savory options. We split a cinnamon sugar one and iced coffee.

I assure you, they are just as delicious as they look. We also got a couple to bring home the next day for the kids.

After walking through the village, we walked down towards Lake Ontario to check out the views.

We did our best to get a picture, but it was super windy!

We took a late afternoon nap, read some of our books and then found ourselves on the patio of the hotel for dinner. Neither of us were super hungry, so we just shared some apps. It was a beautiful night and sunset.

The hotel was so pretty at night. We stayed at the Queen's Landing. This is one of several vintage hotels in Niagara on the Lake. We have also stayed at the Pillar and Post and they have another property- The Prince of Wales Hotel.

The next morning started slow with. Coffee in bed is one of my most favorite things!

We had already scouted out a place in town to grab breakfast on Monday morning.
We both got the Canadian maple peach pancakes. So, so good!

Sidenote, I got this fairly viral leisure set from Target. And it does live up to the hype! It is so comfortable and the fabric feels amazing.
And I got more compliments on this little $25 bag than I would any designer handbag!

One last walk through town to check out the flowers and grab some of those little chimneys for the kids.

Until next year!

We stopped on our drive home to take a look at the gorge. This is a section of the river at the end of Niagara Falls. There are just a ton of beautiful places to walk and look out.

And then we caught one more shot as we waited in traffic to get back across the border!

Life is not always easy, but I am forever grateful to be going through it with this guy by my side!

Cheers to another year!

See you back here tomorrow, there is always room for one more at our family table.
xoxo
