Hey friends!! Finally getting around to sharing some details on our trip to Lake George.
I first came here when I was about 6 months old with my family and have loved it ever since! This is me on the dock in the lake in 1978!
I suggested to Paul that we take a family vacation here and he fell in love too.
We found this rental home on the lake about 15 years ago. It’s tucked behind a little island and has great beach access, a dock for our boat, and lots of fun water stuff like kayaks and paddle boards. Every summer we check out we tell them to book us for the same week next year!
Once we got checked in, we unloaded, put the boat in the water and just sat to enjoy the view!
This is the view from our deck. It’s the best place to watch the sunrise in the morning with a cup of coffee, or to watch the world go dark at night.
In case you didn’t know, Lake George is the cleanest lake in America. They really have tight regulations on bringing in a boat from another body of water. Your boat has to go through an inspection process where they check for invasive species. But it really pays off- you feel cleaner getting out of the water than you do going in! And the water is crystal clear you can see all the way to the bottom.
Our plan for Sunday was to get up early so we could get a great place at Sandy Bay.
It really was the perfect spot to spend our Sunday!
We played a little "Guess the Gummy Bear" flavor. With 12 flavors to choose from, Luke would pass one out and we would have to guess the flavor without looking at the color of the gummy bear. Nothing better than some simple family time.
We got back late afternoon, and Luke and I did some paddle boarding in the bay by our house before dinner.
Here comes our savior Joe from TowBoat US to bring us back to shore!
After our tow back to the marina, we were able to get another ride via boat back to our house. We had to get our trailer and truck to get the boat out of the water. After all of that, Paul spent some time contemplating his next step with the boat.
I’m not sure what he was thinking, but I just knew that I needed ice cream after that day. We went to Martha’s ice cream, which is quite the ice cream operation. They’ve been featured on Food Network for both their super sized servings and their wide variety of rotating custard flavors.
I stuck with something simple. A hot fudge sundae. I did jazz it up with salted caramel custard and it was delish!
We spent the day at the beach at the house, reading, swimming and doing some paddle boarding.
And headed into the town of Bolton Landing for a little Mexican for dinner.
I have been coming here since I was a kid and I swear these little souvenir shops never change!
Mrs Fizzy Whizzy Pop's is the kids' favorite part of Bolton. Lots of candy.....and you pay by the pound. It is just the cutest shop!
We have taken a pic here every year on this big red chair.
I mean someone tell me the chair is just getting smaller.......
We got a call that night that a "boat guy" was able to help us out! So we got up early Wednesday morning to bring the boat to Brian the Boat Guy with big hopes!
We spent the first half of the day reading by the water, my favorite spot to read.
And then it was off to the races.... literally! We headed to Saratoga Race Track to see the races and grab some lunch. Again, a spot I have been coming to since I was a kid.
We did not strike it rich, but it was a fun day with my crew!
And that's a wrap on the first few days....I'll share the second half of the trip next week!
See you back here on Friday, there is always room for one more at our family table.
xoxo
