Friday Favorites September 27th

Happy Friday friends! Cannot believe we are already closing out September! We are sending September out with a bang, with an action packed and fun filled weekend!

As usual, I am linking up with Andrea & Erika for a little Friday Favorites. A peek into a few of my favorite things from the week.

one

Today is one of my very favorite days! 17 years ago I became a Mom for the first time. My beautiful Ella was born today! It has been an absolute joy being her Mom & watching her grow into my best friend. The brightest smile with the kindest heart, she radiates joy.
Such an exciting year for her as she closes out this high school chapter and makes plans for what comes next.

Sharing a few of my favorite recent purchases. This cardigan is so good and currently on sale! It's a great length and soft cotton. I thought it was cute with a little front tuck. It comes in several colors, but I am always a sucker for cream. But I just saw a cream with black stripe and that one might be needed too!

My friend Missy at House of Color Southtowns shared these shoes and I knew I needed them! I love the block heel & the price. Give her a follow over on Insta- she shares some great finds!

This is my favorite portable charger! I have several and just bought this pink color for Ella's birthday. Bonus- currently on sale!

My kids love taking hot lunch to school. Usually chicken & pasta or meatballs & pasta. These thermoses are a great size and I just ordered two more. I fill them with really hot or boiling water and let that set for 10 mins. I have found that helps keep things even warmer longer.

This cardigan is old, but a very similar option is available and super comfortable. It’s pretty lightweight, and a great length to wear with leggings.

Last week I shared this arrangement and am loving it in our dining room.  The smaller glass pumpkin I also picked up a Target, and their pumpkins & small candles are currently BOGO 50% off!!

We have some blue accents in our dining room and smoky gray blue walls, so I wanted to keep the blue napkins for fall and added these gold weathered napkin rings. They are less than $20 for a set of 12 and there’s an assortment of leaves and pumpkins. It’s a perfect touch of Fall.

Here is a closer peak at some of the designs

Resharing a few of these Target finds, because they are all 20% off this weekend! I have been seeing green everywhere for this Fall and I loved this sweatshirt when I saw it in store. It looks and feels like a much more expensive brand, but for $25 I think it’s a great way to make a trendy statement this season. It just got delivered to me this week!

This sweater cardigan is so soft, and would be great for work or more casual with jeans. It comes in several colors, but I loved this light blue shade.

I admit, I’m a sucker for a good stripe. This black-and-white one is a nice little statement sweater. With black jeans, I think it would be a great casual look.

These are a few of our recent favorites from the dinner table.
This spicy vodka chicken from skinny taste was so good. You could either air fry or bake the chicken. I baked it and was delicious. So good that I forgot to take a pic before I dug in!

These Korean Beef Bowls have been another favorite of ours. They come together pretty quickly and are full of some unexpected flavors! You can grab the recipe here

Do you notice all our meals are built in a bowl?? I love these for serving dinner.
This BBQ Salmon with Mango salsa was A- Mazing!! Grab all the details here.

Sometimes it's just the little things in life, that make you smile. Like when a barista puts a little heart sticker on your coffee........

My favorite football team played Monday night. And while I always love when there’s a big lead at halftime, I love it even more when it’s a night game and I can put myself to bed at halftime!!!

This is homecoming weekend, and Ella has the flag football game tonight. The junior girls play against the senior girls. It’s a Batman and Robin theme so I have been busy crafting a shirt!!

Two weekends in a row in September, we’ve been able to get back out on the boat. I know these days are limited, so they are favorite days for sure!

eight

Last weekend, I hosted the cross-country team for a pasta dinner before the race. 6 pounds of pasta, 300 chicken nuggets and 42 slices of garlic bread later they were all fed!!!

And then we got to watch our girl do her thing the next morning.

Her biggest fan, as always!

I took the day off from work today. We are celebrating Ella’s birthday this weekend, and we have all the homecoming festivities, plus a pretty big race for her out of town. It’s going to be a whirlwind, but loving every minute of it!

Wishing you all the best weekend friends!

See you back here on Monday. There is always room for one more at our family table.

Something New for Your Family Table BBQ Salmon Bowls

Happy Monday friends! The calendar may officially say Fall. but we were so excited to steal another day on the boat yesterday. The sun was shining, and it was pretty warm, so we took advantage.

This is a wild week ahead. It’s homecoming week for the kids, so there’s lots of activities at the end of the week with the Powderpuff football game and homecoming dance. We’ve got two volleyball games and two cross country meets in the week as well. And Ella's birthday is on Friday too!

I have shared here before our family's love of salmon. So when I stumbled across this barbecue salmon bowl, I knew we had to try it. It got two thumbs up from everybody on the table last night.

I mean, how could you go wrong with these ingredients. Salmon, fresh avocado, mango, and cilantro........

First step was to assemble the mango salsa. This came together really quickly.... just chopping a bunch of things and throwing it in a bowl. I have a feeling this would taste better if it was left to sit for a while longer and let all the flavors come together. This is definitely something you could make ahead of time to cut time off during a weeknight meal. I would just hold off on the avocado and add it in before you serve it.

This would be so good with chips!

Next step was creating this barbecue rub for the salmon. Just some spices like paprika, garlic powder, and the key was some brown sugar. It kind of gave that sweet and smoky flavor to the salmon. All the spices came together with a little bit of olive oil and then patted it onto the salmon.

When I make this again, I will put just a little less of the rub on the salmon.

The recipe called for baking in the oven, which I did. It baked at a high temp in less than 10 minutes. You could definitely do this in the air fryer as well, you just want to keep an eye on your time, as the brown sugar can burn pretty quickly.

I made some quick jasmine rice, and then topped with the salmon and the salsa and dinner was done. I added some fresh jalapeños to the top of mine. The mango salsa called for it but I skipped it, since my kids are not huge fans of spicy.

This one will officially be in our rotation for dinner! You can grab all the recipe details here.

See you back here on Wednesday, there is always room for one ore at our family table.

Friday Favorites September 20th

Happy Friday friends! Another week in the books! I spent the week in Boston for work, and am heading back home this afternoon. Ready to get back to my fam!

As usual, I am linking up with Andrea & Erika for a little Friday Favorites. A peek into a few of my favorite things from the week.

one
Last weekend we made our way to college tour number five. I’m not going to lie, this is a lot. Trying to see all these different colleges and decide what she wants to do and does she see herself in the schools…there's a lot to think about.  I honestly don’t remember doing college tours when I was her age. I think I kind of just picked a school and went with it. I don’t remember visiting multiple campuses with my parents. And I ended up OK, so I try to keep all that in perspective.

This trip found us in Binghamton, New York. This campus was actually really pretty, and she liked it for a "Northern school". She still has her heart on heading South. So we’ll see what unfolds in the next few months. If you missed our other campus visits, you can check them out here and here.

Our  campus tour guide recommended a couple of restaurants in town, and one of them was Mexican. Well I could eat Mexican food 7 days a week so that was the obvious choice!

A couple weeks ago I shared this black athleisure set from Target. It is so comfortable and makes you look put together.  I grabbed the white top too. It has black piping down the arms and I loved it with the black skirt.

If you’ve been following along for a while, then you may know that we have had some issues with our boat this year. It has been in and out of commission, and we have not had it since July 20 when we came back from our trip to the lake. We finally got it back about two weeks ago and we finally got out again this weekend, for the first time in nearly 2 months! It was the most beautiful day and super relaxing to be back on the water. Something about the water just washes away any thoughts or worries.

This crew is not ready to say goodbye to Summer!

While I am not ready for Fall weather, I did do a little Fall decorating last weekend. I saw this arrangement at Target and I loved the simplicity of it and the height for our dining room table. I grabbed it with a drive up order and I was not disappointed.  The smaller glass pumpkin I also picked up a Target, and the larger one was a random Aldi find the other day.

I really just added a little Fall to the dining room.  I do need to get up my other Fall decor from the basement, but I did add this little arrangement. It caught my eye at Target and it looks cute in our entryway.

I have been seeing green everywhere for this Fall and I loved this sweatshirt when I saw it in store. It looks and feels like a much more expensive brand, but for $25 I think it’s a great way to make a trendy statement this season.

I had just done my dining room with the Fall things and then I saw this wood platter. This would be adorable as a serving piece or you could set a candle on it.

I assure you, Paul does not feel the same way I do about pillows, he wonders why there are so many!   I love some seasonal pillows. This one has a hint of Fall without being too crazy.

When I travel, whether personally or for business, I love to find a local coffee shop. I like  to hang out for a while and do some work or just grab my morning fix to support a local business. This place was called Fuel America. They had great coffee and lots of space to work or hang out.

While traveling this week, we found ourselves at a Mexican restaurant that had the most beautiful tequila presentation I have seen. And I love a good margarita. Not something out of a frozen ice machine or something that is fluorescent green, but one that is handcrafted. Fresh lime juice, agave, and a really good tequila.

Cleary, we had to order margaritas. I got the spicy margarita and it did not disappoint! This place also had guacamole flights. There were like 12 different ways you could get your guacamole.

And my last piece of Boston was this comfy travel outfit. Black leggings and a black tank are super comfortable to travel, but then I threw on this new blazer and it instantly transformed the look into a little bit more professional. The blazer has a great length to wear with leggings, and I rolled the sleeves for a little bit more of style. It comes in several colors, but I loved this neutral paired with black.

And that my friends, was a peek into some of my favorites from the week.
Tonight we are hosting the cross country team for dinner, so I'll be cooking pasta for about 35 kids. Carb loading for their big race tomorrow!

Wishing you the best weekend! See you back here on Monday, there is always room for one more at our family table.
